We acquired the AirSkill drone simulator because organizing training sessions during work hours is challenging and there are few instructors. When our new pilots start guided training with a real drone, they’ve already practiced independently with AirSkill. Thanks to the simulator, they have a better feel for flying, which reduces uncertainties.

Fire Department in Southern FinlandAirSkill is a pioneering VR/AR software company at the forefront of developing cutting-edge training solutions for drone pilots.
Over the past five years, AirSkill has specialized in immersive technologies and collaborated closely with Fire Departments and Fire Academies across Europe and the Americas to enhance the skills and readiness of their drone operators.
In emergency situations, drones provide critical aerial views of dangerous environments like wildfires, building fires, and hazardous materials incidents. They enable fire departments to assess situations from a distance, identify hotspots, monitor fire spread, and search for missing persons efficiently, all without putting firefighters at unnecessary risk.
Operating drones in these high-pressure environments demands precision and quick decision-making. To be well-prepared, pilots must develop solid routines through frequent training sessions.
Firefighters must prepare to operate around complex structures, in smoke, high temperatures, sudden weather changes, and equipment malfunctions.
Pilots have to develop sharp observation skills to ensure all important details are considered in every mission—a challenging task that requires extensive training and experience.
Traditional training often lacks realism and can lead to costly drone damage during demanding practice sessions.
Additionally, high-quality training requires significant time and resources, which limits accessibility and makes scheduling comprehensive sessions difficult.
Developed together with international rescue services, AirSkill bridges the gaps in traditional training.
